Miliary Aviation Museum WWII Living History Day

Step back in time and experience history come to life at the Military Aviation Museum’s Living History Event!

With living history encampments, historical reenactors, military vehicles and demonstrations, and family activities, this event is don’t miss fun for all!

This extraordinary event features a stunning collection of WWII aircraft on static display against the backdrop of a sprawling 130-acre campus and grass runway. A true immersive experience, complete with living history encampments and meticulously preserved 1940s airfield buildings, this event offers attendees a unique opportunity to step back in time and experience American history. This year, in honor of America’s 250th anniversary, the museum welcomes historical groups from WWI through the Korean War, to highlight the museum’s warbird collection. Guests will get to experience the past through period-accurate uniforms, authentic encampments, demonstrations, and original militaria and vehicle collections. Enthusiasts from Virginia, the United States, and beyond flock to this event for an unforgettable experience.

The event runs on Saturday, October 3, 2026 from 9:00 – 5:00. Living historians and reenactors will establish encampments on the museum grounds from Friday evening through Sunday morning. Food trucks will be on-site Saturday to serve guests throughout the day. The museum’s historic warbird collection will be on full display across its four hangers, and guests may reserve seats aboard the museum’s 1941 Stearman Biplane for scenic flights throughout the weekend. Whether you’re a history buff, a dedicated warbird fan, or seeking a memorable family outing, this event is perfect for you.

Standard daily museum admission includes full access to all living history programming. All proceeds from this event help fund the Military Aviation Museum and its educational programming. We are a non-profit 501c3 museum.
