EVENT DESCRIPTION

Streets lined with people, colorful floats in all shapes and sizes, larger-than-life balloons, marching bands...all of which is just a small snapshot of Neptune's Grand Parade on Saturday.  Find yourself the best spot on the block as you enjoy the music and sights of our many parade units.  Be sure to keep an eye out for King Neptune and his court!  With a 16 block parade route, a bad spot is hard to find.

Make sure you get there early though for front row seating as many of the floats will have beads and other fun giveaways  for the crowd.  Come cheer your favorites as all roll down Atlantic Avenue starting at 11:30 AM.  As a highlight of Neptune Festival, this free event is a must for all, young and old alike.  So take a seat on the curb and watch the entertainment roll by.

We are in the business of bringing 400,000+ citizens and visitors to the oceanfront to celebrate the beach life. A typical Neptune Festival Boardwalk Weekend consists of 3 days of 250+ artists on the boardwalk, 35+ musical acts on 3 concert stages, a Grand Parade featuring over 100 marching units and floats, an 8k Race with over 1,000 runners and spectators, an International Sandsculpting Championship that brings in 32 sculptors from 11 countries around the world, an Atlantic Regatta, a Volleyball Tournament, a Beach Yoga and Fitness Experience, a Youth Art Show, food vendors, exhibitors, and so much more. We want to bring you all of that and more, but we cannot, in good conscience, proceed with a Festival of that magnitude during this time. Therefore, it is with great reluctance, that we have decided to cancel the 47th Annual Neptune Festival Boardwalk Weekend scheduled for September 25-27, 2020. Losing a beloved weekend tradition for so many is more than disappointing - not only for those who attend and participate, but for our corporate sponsors and the many local businesses, restaurants, and hotels who benefit from our annual Neptune Festival celebration. As the Official Celebration of the City of Virginia Beach, it is devastating to us that we cannot fulfill our mission as we have done since 1974. We look forward to planning a spectacular Festival next year as we "Take Back The Beach" together in 2021! *** If you have purchased tickets to cancelled events or were accepted as a food/non-food vendor, exhibitor, or artist, the Neptune Festival office will contact you with more information. Please be patient as we reach out to each person and company individually.*** For the full text of our press release and important information on specific events, click here > https://bit.ly/3fhYyoi

We understand your decision. We love this Festival and look to be back on the boardwalk next year!!

Thanks m so sorry to hear this. The Neptune Festival Art Show has been one of my favorites to do for the part 4 years. I’ll look forward to next and hope everyone stays safe!

It is a sad thing for sure but the correct thing to do. Thank you for helping to keep us all a little safer. Hopefully things will be a little more back to normal and 2021 will be a time to enjoy this fun, exciting event again!

So, so sad to hear this 😭 but we still have beachfront hotel reservations and a dolphin tour booked, so we will make the best out of our trip from Rhode Island

I appreciate the concerns over participants’ health. Sometimes the right decision is hard. Thank you for doing what is right over what is profitable.

This was the first event my husband and I attended when we moved to the area and was a favorite of ours. We are sad that it isn't happening but think it was the right move for sure.

I’m guessing the oceana air show is next to be cancelled

You did the right thing. We will be back! It has become a tradition for us. You had some fabulous bands last year!

I'm so bummed right now, was so looking forward to this. Hopefully we can come down next year. I hope businesses can survive the summer without the tourism.

True leadership isn't always about making the popular decisions, it is about making the correct ones. We all feel the impact but next year the blessings will come two-fold. Stay strong and keep up the amazing work! Our families deserve it and will need it come 2021! 🇺🇸

Nope the beach is not a safe place anymore.

I figured that they would cancel. Our group is still going to the beach.

My husband and I collect the posters every year, it was our first date.. this is very sad 😥

I hate to hear this!! I try to go every year!!

Too too bad but given all that is happening a very smart decision. Maybe next year?

So sad, but totally understand. It is the right thing to do, given our situation. Next year the festival and other events will be bigger and better than ever! ❤️

One of my favorites. But the city has work to do and getting rid of the criminal element is a must.

Just call it a protest festival, then it will be deemed safe. An outdoor festival afraid if a virus that cannot survive UV rays, nor heat? Masks only work at big department stores?

Am I correct that so far all spring and summer events have been canceled EXCEPT Funk Fest?

Sorry to hear. But with the Covid19, protests and violence that has been happening there, we were concerned about attending.

Damn...so so sad. This has been a staple of my life since 2007 and I haven't missed one yet. Ready for 2021 to get here already!!!!

Good decision, I was there 2 years ago had a great time , will gladly come back when things get better

Beyond upset......I love this event. 😢

oh no I look forward to this every year

With much regret, and in the interest of health, safety, state and local directives surrounding COVD-19, the decision has been made to cancel the 10th Annual Symphony by the Sea Concert Series

We would like to take this opportunity to thank the presenting sponsor of the Symphony by the Sea Concert Series - The Breeden Company - for their generous support over the past nine years. Many of you have also been with us through all this time, for which we are most grateful.

An email has been sent to those who have purchased VIP Memberships, with details regarding your purchase.

We have been coming to the Neptune festival for almost 14 years I would hate hate to miss it this year when so many people are in the streets protesting for what they believe in and marching for the rights that they have I want my right to have my Neptune festival it's a family thing we all come down together we all stay together in the same hotel as something we do every single year as a family It would break my heart if we could not do it this year

I hope Neptune Festival doesn't get cancelled. I love going to see the sandscuplters. 🤞🏽

Is the Neptune Festival still happening in September

Thank you for thinking of our health

One of my favorite things about being in Virginia Beach. We miss this so much now that we're gone!

Does this mean that the Neptune Festival boardwalk weekend is going to take place?

Beautiful ❤️

How beautiful. Thanks for sharing.

Nice, Thank you so much💖🙏

Amazing! So beautiful

Jim Myak Judy Parker. Many times I have seen those sand sculputers. This one is particularly meaningful and beautiful!

Very appropriate!

when is the festival?

Awesome!!

Beautiful!

The last thing we need is insanely large crowds and tourism and festivals. People can barely keep their composure at damn Walmart these days you really think people will behave at a festival....no

Appreciated

Thank you! I'm a healthcare employee! I'm really hoping that the Neptune will take place. That's my vacation week and I'm really looking forward to getting away❤

Wow!!!!
