I didn't know your little man went to Swift Creek. I work in the severe disability classroom there.

It's very possible! There was a humpback spotted on our weekend Dolphin Discoveries trips! Maybe it's the same one!

Not sure who to contact.. but it might be worth looking into. I don’t know if the water has elevated bacteria levels, or it’s just a fluke that these two washed up.. but my skin definitely felt weird, itchy and turned a little red after stepping in the water trying to take these pictures. I had to go home and wash off.

Thanks for letting us know! We'll pass it along to our team to make them aware.

What is this cownose ray smiling about? This Earth Day, we’re joining aquariums across the United States in doubling down on our commitment to save our oceans and waterways from plastic pollution by pledging to engage in additional efforts to reduce single-use plastic in our gift shops, cafes, and in other behind-the-scenes work.

Eight million metric tons of plastic enter the ocean each year. By changing the way we do things in our building, we’re aiming to drive the market towards alternatives to single-use plastic and in turn protect the health of our planet.

My family visited the aquarium back in January 2018. You guys had a table set up talking about replacing single use plastic straws with reuseable, washable straws. My two little boys were going through a lot of straws.... so, I went home that day, ordered reusable straws online, and have been using them ever since. 😊 Small measures add up. Thanks, aquarium!

If we bring our own canteens, can we buy drink refills in the cafe?

Happy 🌎 Day! We're proud to be a partner for Straw-Free Earth Day Hampton Roads! Please consider thanking one of the participating businesses for making today a priority to serve single use plastic straws upon request. ... See MoreSee Less

What about plastic bags? They do far more harm than straws.

It’s easy! Just take the lid off! I bought a collapsible metal straw that attaches to my keychain via a carrying case.

None in Norfolk. ☹

The license plate is currently awaiting signature into law. Once signed (and after a short period where we finalize the plate with the DMV), it should be available for purchase from your Virginia DMV. We're hoping that will be mid-late summer 2019. 🙂
