Virginia Beach Named 8th Happiest City in the U.S.

In a recent study done by job resource website Zippia, Virginia Beach was named the Number 8 happiest city in the U.S.

While they did consider residents’ average salaries, they also used the following criteria to measure happiness and rank the top 10 happiest U.S. cities:

  • Level of education
  • Unemployment rate
  • A short commute to work
  • Low cost of living
  • Having a family
  • Owning a home
  • The poverty rate

Fun-Fact

Not only does Virginia Beach have some of the most beautiful beaches in the country, great food and fun entertainment, but it also boasts the 12th lowest rate of poverty and 13th lowest unemployment rate.

Residents also enjoy year-round events on the boardwalk, including events at the 31st Street Park/Stage, art festivals, concerts, fireworks, parades and holiday light shows.

The wide range of delicious and gourmet food is enough to entice anyone to move here. From Pocahontas Pancake and Waffle Shop for breakfast, CHOPS or Ocean 27 for lunch, to Bubba's Seafood Restaurant & Crabhouse, Lucky Oyster Seafood Co for dinner and Duck Donuts for dessert, there is something for every taste bud here.

Being surrounded by positivity, community, and fun are the keys to happiness, and you will find all of that here in Virginia Beach!
