Get up close and personal with Virginia Beach’s most beloved residents at the Virginia Aquarium & Marine Science Center. With thousands of animals representing hundreds of species, there is something for everyone to see and enjoy. See eye to eye with Komodo dragons, go below the water with endangered Malaysian crocodiles, and interact with playful harbor seals. Featuring hands-on exhibits, live animal habitats, and a beautiful one third of a mile nature trail, there are hundreds of ways to learn and play. Want to see more? Take a Virginia Aquarium boat tour and see dolphins, pelicans, and other native wildlife. Or help work a trawl net to collect fish and invertebrates during an Ocean Collections trip.

In the Aquarium’s newest changing exhibit, Very Eric Carle: A Very Hungry, Quiet, Lonely, Clumsy, Busy Exhibit, visitors become the Very Hungry Caterpillar as they follow his path; weave a web with the Very Busy Spider; find their light with the Very Lonely Firefly; make the Very Clumsy Click Beetle flip and jump; and compose a night symphony with the Very Quiet Cricket. This exhibit is included with your Aquarium admission.

Don’t miss the Virginia Aquarium Giant Screen Theater. Boasting one of the largest movie screens in Virginia, each seat has an incredible view of one of the educational and entertaining movies being shown. Visit VirginiaAquarium.com and start planning your visit today.

Happy World Otter Day! 🐾 May 27 is a day to celebrate these rambunctious creatures, including our very own Tippy, Homer, and Sheldon 🎉 . North American river otters can slow down their heart rate to remain under water 6-8 minutes during dives. River otters are also keystone species for watersheds. Their presence indicates the presence of good, clean water and a healthy habitat. 🌿💧
Meet Neon, a Kemp’s ridley sea turtle that was rescued after accidentally being hooked by a fisherman this past weekend. 🐢Neon was brought into the Stranding Response Program, where the hook was removed. A follow-up exam was conducted, after which our vet cleared Neon for release. Neon was released this morning & is doing great! Thank you to the fishing group who called us & our Stranding Response team. 👏👏 . As the summer season approaches, here are a few reminders if you come across a hooked sea turtle: 1- Call the Virginia Aquarium Stranding Response Program 757-385-7575 2- Do not release the turtle or try to remove the hook yourself 3- Once the turtle is in hand, cut the line with at least 2 feet of line still attached 4- Wait for the Stranding Response Team for next steps
Home of the free, because of the brave. On this Memorial Day & every day- we honor, remember & thank you for your service & ultimate sacrifice. ❤️🤍💙

These steps take time to implement. We appreciate your understanding and will keep you all updated with details regarding when we will be welcoming guests back.
