Thankfully, Hurricane Isaias is out of here. Hope that you and your family made it through safely. But like water off a duck's back, we'll shake it off and see you tomorrow when we reopen.

We are saddened to announce that the newborn spotted eagle ray pup has passed away despite emergency medical intervention and the best efforts of our highly trained staff. While we do not have any definitive answers, we did collect diagnostic samples and hope they will provide additional information. Our hearts are broken right now. 💔

Hello everyone! Hope all is well. I would love it if you guys could tell me what kind of Jellyfish this is as I couldn't find anything online and also maybe it would be cool to do a little story about them and I think we have Sea lice right now? I've been going down to the beach for probably 6 years now and this is the first I've encountered both since the 80s-90s. I suspect it has something to do with the Hurricane. But either way would be fascinated to learn why they are here and about the Sea lice too. Thanks! (Pic was taken down by 1st street however they are at Croatan as well) ... See MoreSee Less

So saddened by the news. Thank you for all your hard work and keeping you in my thoughts.

So sorry to hear about the baby ray's passing, but still a success that Mom was able to deliver it at Va Aq with so many staff that care for them! ❤

The staff at Aquarium is so good and so caring. I feel bad for them.

Very sad news. I can only imagine how devastated your staff is. I was so looking forward to watching this pup grow 😔

So sorry to hear this! So sorry for your broken hearts! You were the best caregivers!

I'm sure you all tried everything you could. I'm saddened by this but very grateful for your work. ❤️❤️❤️

So sorry! You’re staff is so amazing, And we know you did all you could.

I’m so sorry for your loss.💔 I know the staff was even more excited than we were as you were there for the whole process.

Our condolences to all. <3

I’m so sorry to hear of little one’s passing. Y’all made the announcement about the two eagle ray pregnancies right after I found out about my own pregnancy so I’ve been following updates very closely. How’s the other momma ray that’s carrying twins?

Ohhhh...I am so sorry. I know everyone did everything they possibly could do to keep Baby Ray alive.I feel so sorry for your whole team.

Awww I'm so sorry to hear this. I know your staff did everything it could have for it.

Oh no! So sorry to hear about the loss!

Probably because there was too many humans at the delivery in a tiny jacuzzi. They should have let her birth naturally instead of being so intrusive!!!!!! I know it's an aquarium but all those ppl involved I watched in the video was absurd.

I am so, so sorry. Heartbreaking.

So sorry for your loss..💗💗💗

Hugs to everybody there. ❤️

I'm sorry for your loss. 😢

Spirit up 💔 Sending light love and healing energy to all

I'm so sorry. I was so excited for our Aquarium family. I'm confident you did everything you could. Much love...

I work at the zoo and know your pain all too well. Bless your staff for all you do.

Oh no! 🙁 I am so sorry. Working with animals can be so tough sometimes! Praying!

😔

So sad. Sorry to hear that awful news.

So sorry....my heart goes out to your team. ❤️
