Always a Buzz of Life, Culture and Events along the Virginia Beach Boardwalk

No matter what time of year, Virginia Beach consistently buzzes with life and culture. Just about any time day or night visitors and locals stroll along the famous Virginia Beach boardwalk, passing the delicious smells of tasty dishes coming from local restaurants and bistros. Once the sun starts to set in the evening, the oceanfront comes alive with music and entertainment. At stages on 34th Street, 31st Street, 24th Street, 17th Street  and 7th Street, local bands are playing their casual tunes while residents and visitors dance the night away. Popular musicians also come to the Oceanfront to play live on the 5th Street beach stage right in the sand!

Hundreds of visitors gather here during Memorial Day Weekend for the Patriotic Festival for celebration at the start of summertime. Even as summer winds down, Virginia Beach keeps the summer fun going! A huge favorite with many is the annual Neptune Festival which celebrates life and tastes in Virginia Beach, with food vendors and music performances lining the boardwalk. In addition to all the delicious foods and drinks, local artists showcase their pottery and stained glass creations, making this sandy get together a fun experience to showcase great eats and talented works of art.

If sitting back and relaxing is an activity you want to leave on the beach, then there are many physical events for any aged participants! Whether you want to give the Rock ‘n Roll Virginia Beach Half Marathon a try, or you want to support a cause during the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure in October, the oceanfront knows how to stay in shape on the beach.

Other sports have their own events too, like the annual Sand Soccer Tournament and surfing competitions like the world’s longest running surf contest every August The ECSC (East Coast Surfing Championships. Though many years of change have impacted the Virginia Beach Boardwalk, it stands strong just like the King Neptune statue on 31st and provides lasting memories at the beach for families and friends all over the world. It’s time for you to get into the scene at the Virginia Beach oceanfront!
