The Melting Pot
A great place to go for special occasions (we were there for our anniversary). They have various seating arrangements and locations around the restaurant to accommodate everything from larger groups to an intimate table for two. Service is friendly and attentive, drinks are very good, and the food is delicious and a unique experience. It's a bit pricey and I would highly recommend making reservations, but as I mentioned before, this place is best for special occasions.
If you have a special occasion, this is the place and I would highly recommend you to check this place out.
What can I say about about the Melting Pot? It is all about the **experiences**.
I went with my friend and decided to try the 4-course experience. Before we knew it, we were there for 2 hours and 30 minutes, talking and enjoying the conversation and food.
The dessert is indeed amazing. Who does not like chocolate?!
The Melting Pot is a great place to go in Virginia Beach. You don't want to call ahead and make a reservation. I did try to walk in one day without dinner reservations during a holiday weekend and was not surprised that the wait was an hour or more, it's a very popular place. The seat time can take quite some time as the food preparation does make the meal take anywhere between 45 minutes to an hour probably. The waiter was helpful with suggestions for both meal and drinks there wasn't anything we got that we didn't like. All of the meat is cooked to your liking. They do have vegetarian options available as well. The desserts were delicious although I miss how they used to give you Cheesecake as well but now I see it's still available but for a $8 up charge which include some other desserts too. Despite having a hankering for cheesecake I decided to forego ordering the additional desserts and didn't find myself missing them by the time dessert was over.
It was a great anniversary dinner. We sat in the back of one of the little rooms. It would have been romantic if it wasn't for my old age and having to use the phones flash light to read the menu. The food and service were outstanding.
I will start my saying that we have visited the melting pot a dozen times over the past few years. It seems that they are cutting corners to save money without actually lowering costs or improving the experience. It’s small changes, like no longer offering two types of beef with the “big night out” or providing about half as much chocolate in the dessert fondue that have cemented our decision not to return to this restaurant. We cannot justify the high cost ($120 before tip and with no alcohol) compared to what you receive in the meal. There wasn’t even enough chocolate to finish dipping the items on the dessert tray. When my wife responded to the waitress, when asked how dessert was, “good but we didn’t get enough chocolate”, the waitresses response was simply, “great do you need anything else this evening?”, completely not addressing the issue and ready to give us the check. They have substituted the sirloin on the main entree with pork, which is cheaper but does not taste all that great in a fondue setting. We love coming here but at this point will look for a restaurant that provides “more bang for our buck”.
