DQ Grill & Chill Restaurant
Region: Oceanfront Central (11-25), Virginia Beach
Cuisines: Ice Cream & Sweets
Since 1940, when the first Dairy Queen store opened in Joliet, Illinois, DQ has served quality soft serve ice cream (with our signature curl) to families. Since then, Dairy Queen has grown into one of the largest fast food franchises in the world. But don’t get the wrong idea, from Dilly Bars to Blizzards to Banana Splits, at Dairy Queen we make “Fan Food not Fast Food” and you don’t have to go any farther than the Virginia Beach boardwalk to enjoy one of our Royal Treats.
At our newly renovated 17th Street Grill & Chill, we serve all of our fan favorites including Peanut Buster Parfaits, Dipped Cones, Sundaes, and Orange Julius drinks, but also offer items fresh from the grill. Visit us for lunch or dinner and try a world-famous Super Chili Dog, a GrillBurger, a delicious Hot Bake or our lighter Garden Greens Grilled Chicken Salad. We’ve expanded our canopied outdoor seating area so there is plenty of room. And no visit is complete without checking out what’s happening at the outdoor Dairy Queen Grill & Chill 17th Street Park, featuring live music, plays, movies, and events throughout the summer season.

Fell in love with this place. Right off the Boardwalk on Virginia Beach. You walk up to a window and place your order. The food was wonderful. You are able to sit in your car or at the tables they have just a few steps from the restaurant .
Great location, great view and if you love DQ you can rest assured this is one of them.
Would be 5 star but they seemed short staffed this day.
I did go during the off season so that could have been a major factor here.
Cool Dairy Queen just off the boardwalk with lots of outdoor seating and ocean views. Good food and Ice cream treats!!
First off, their prices are criminal! I ordered a meal and wasn’t asked if I wanted a drink with it. The Dairy Queens around me have drinks come with meals, so I assumed that one would. Turns out they up charge a good amount for one. The cashier seemed to not be able to speak a lick of English and was not helpful when I questioned my meal. Needles to say they are just trying to be a tourist attraction with very high prices. Just go down to the local grocery store and buy some ice cream or go to a different restaurant entirely.
Service was great but fries tasted and looked old, and parking says 20 minutes only. For a family of 5 it takes that long just to give our order. There wasn't enough outdoor seating so we had to sit in our car. I love DQ but have definitely had better experiences.
