DQ Grill & Chill Restaurant
Region: Oceanfront Central (11-25), Virginia Beach
Cuisines: Ice Cream & Sweets
Since 1940, when the first Dairy Queen store opened in Joliet, Illinois, DQ has served quality soft serve ice cream (with our signature curl) to families. Since then, Dairy Queen has grown into one of the largest fast food franchises in the world. But don’t get the wrong idea, from Dilly Bars to Blizzards to Banana Splits, at Dairy Queen we make “Fan Food not Fast Food” and you don’t have to go any farther than the Virginia Beach boardwalk to enjoy one of our Royal Treats.
At our newly renovated 17th Street Grill & Chill, we serve all of our fan favorites including Peanut Buster Parfaits, Dipped Cones, Sundaes, and Orange Julius drinks, but also offer items fresh from the grill. Visit us for lunch or dinner and try a world-famous Super Chili Dog, a GrillBurger, a delicious Hot Bake or our lighter Garden Greens Grilled Chicken Salad. We’ve expanded our canopied outdoor seating area so there is plenty of room. And no visit is complete without checking out what’s happening at the outdoor Dairy Queen Grill & Chill 17th Street Park, featuring live music, plays, movies, and events throughout the summer season.

I came here on one of the windiest days. It would have been nice to eat in doors- but I'm sure it would have been just fine if it wasn't so cold and windy.
You go up to the window and order and they hand you your food.
There were no seats but I'm sure it was because we were in the off season and they put them away (and it was so windy).
Great service and ice cream. We will be back!
Terrible experience. We visited Virginia Beach for the day and decided to stop for some ice cream, we spent a good amount of money for the four of us and decided to take a walk on the boardwalk while we ate. We we gone for no longer than 15 minutes and when we came back they had a tow truck hooking up our vehicle and told us we were parked too long WHILE we still had the DQ cups in our hand!! Luckily the driver was cool and let us off the hook but we will never return again.
This place is terrible. The employees seem very stressed and are rude and dismissive of customers. There is always a slow line and it’s overpriced, of course. You’d be so much better off walking one block up to 18th and across the street to Kohr’s Brothers - the best most delicious ice cream, frozen custard and related products.
Somehow my wife was served last even though she ordered before the seven other people. I am unsure how you have this poorly managed and run restaurant. When we attempted to talk with a manager about this issue we were told that “theirs no manager here, but you can whine to DQ online” .... so you got what you asked for
Prices are higher than any other Dairy Queen location. Head to any of the other chain fast food places a few blocks up on Pacific and 21st or 23rd if you want a quick, inexpensive option. Would not reccomend based on the %30 - %40 Markup alone.
