Comfort Suites stole my Nintendo switch

So I really contemplated posting this is or not but it is totally unacceptable for an establishment to do.

Do Not Stay At Comfort Suites!!

Last weekend (9-7-19) my wife and six month old son stayed at the comfort suites in Cookeville Tn. It's advertised to have a sauna, hot tub, and heated pool. The pool was freezing! My son could not even sit in the water without screaming. The hot tub and sauna were both out of commission. When I asked the lady who came walking up to the front desk about the heated pool she told me she had no idea if it was heated but informed me that it was an inside pool. We got over this and went about our night trying to enjoy the weekend. We went out for awhile and then came back to the room to get some sleep. My wife and son went to bed and I stayed up to play a little final fantasy on my Nintendo switch. After I felt like I couldn't hold my eyes open playing anymore I put it in the drawer of the bedside table and rolled over to go to bed.

The next morning we asked to have a late check-out and were told that we could checkout at noon instead of 11a.m. my wife and son went to church and I stayed back to get an extra hour of sleep before our eventful Sunday. We live in Mount Juliet and we got home from our long day at about 7. While bringing everything inside from the car, it dawned on me that I had left my switch case at the hotel. I immediately grabbed a phone and called to see if it had been found.

It had not only not been found. It was gone from the place that I KNEW it was placed. No one stayed in the room we had that night and the clerk went into the room and checked the bedside table while on the phone with me. Nothing. She told me to call back after a couple hours to let her talk to her boss and see if it had been turned in that day. She, of course, was new and didn't know what to do in the situation. So I called back in a few hours only to learn that it had not been reported and that nothing else could be done that night.

So the next morning I drove back down to Cookeville to have a talk with the general manager. He told me that he had watched the tape of the hall and had not seen any of the cleaners come out with my leather switch case. He took my number down and proceeded to tell me that he would check the lobby cameras( because that was going to prove anything?). After that I went down to the police station and filed a stolen item report.

It's been almost a week and no new information has come from the hotel manager. I've called twice and he's always out on lunch break.

I paid to stay at a hotel for a night. Then to have someone take an expensive item that was left in the room is ridiculous. There was at least $600 in that little case and the hotel manager is doing nothing about it. Maybe if I hadn't called about my item in two weeks I could justify it being "gone" but I called that night. No one stayed in the room we did and only two people had been logged to go in there and do stuff. Doesn't seem like that much of a mystery to me but what do I know.

Thank you for charging me over $700 to stay a night at your hotel comfort suites

I was researching for an expected stay near my home. Was looking at your Comfort Suites Florence (Ky) property. I was reviewing the customer reviews and saw something that seriously concerns me, but no option to submit a question on your website. My concern, the staff reply to one of the negative reviews stated that it is company policy not to rent rooms to people who live within 20 miles of the property. 1st who are you to question or prevent any legal paying guest from renting regardless where they live? 2nd my reason for researching hotels in my area is that I will have to be out of my home during kitchen renovations resulting from serious water damage. I was highly offended to see one of your front desk personnel state that you place restrictions like this on your room rentals. In case you want to verify this statement was in response to a 1 star review from May 2018. I am a Choice Privileges member but may never stay at a Choice property again because of this. ... We checked the reviews and booked a stay with Sleep Inn at Sea-Tac International Airport in Seattle on Tuesday, Sept. 10, 2019. Our reservation was confirmed, but when we arrived at the motel, we were told that we had been canceled because there was a problem with my credit card. I immediately contacted our bank, and was told there was absolutely no problem! We were then told the issue was because we had reserved through Expedia, and then they said they had overbooked! Needless to say we were not happy, and neither were the 5 or 6 other travelers who had booked with confirmations and had been canceled, We were able to find lodging at Clarion in Tacoma, which is about an hour away (with traffic and all). Everyone at Clarion was super nice, and we thank them for their courtesy, but we were appalled at how we were treated at Sleep Inn in Seattle. ☹️ ... See MoreSee Less

And your disappointment is understandable, Susan! Although we are happy to know that our Clarion hotel was able to accommodate you during your travel, our goal is always to provide extraordinary customer service on every hotel, and we hate to know that the Sleep Inn Sea-Tac Aiport was not able to accomplish it with you. Rest assured that your feedback will not go unnoticed, as I have forwarded it to the hotel's owner for their review. Thank you for bringing this matter to our attention as this is how we can make the necessary improvements in our hotels. If we can be of further assistance, please let us know. -Jendy
