PRIVATE PERFORMANCE: Harden’s Bluff, Charles City, VA. June 29, 2019 Incredidble “Thanks” to Jack Dutton for giving me such an awesome, fun party and audience for my performance in such a beautiful and incredible environment! Right when I finished my performance we got to watch an awesome 20 minute fireworks display over the James River about five miles down the river put on by the city of Hopewell. Then the party audience rallied and stuffed my top jar to keep on playing. I can’t think of any way better to make a living than being with great friends, some old friends and some you just met, all awesome quality people who truly appreciate you as a person and are incredibly gracious of your musical talents you are sharing with them... an evening of nothing but smiles and the natural beauty of the natural environment around you. I’m truly a blessed man.
Unusually quiet e down here at the oceanfront. Which makes a great opportunity for locals who want to come on down to CP Shuckers Pacific Ave. without the tourist hassle! After today, I won’t be performing at the beach until August! Motivate! Pull those bikes out and ride on down! 👍🏼
Come on out Norfolk! Let the Summer begin! U-Pie, 5008 Colley Ave.! Here til 11:30!

I’ve been playing this song for 46 years now. I still love it as much as I did the first time I heard it.

I was way ahead of the curve on the Jimmy Buffett thing. Before, anyone had really heard about him. I got there by chance. When I was 16, I had driven my old 1947 Willy’s Jeep Station Wagon down to the backwoods of Chesapeake to help my girlfriend clean out a farm they had rented after the renters moved out.

I found these four albums of some guy I never heard of. But, he seemed pretty chill and fun on his album covers so I grabbed them to take home. It was A1A, A White Sports Coat And A Pink Crustacean, Havana Daydreaming and Living and Dying In 3/4 Time.

So, took them home and threw them on the old trusty turntable. They were an instant hit with me. “Pirate Looks At Forty” particularly stood out. I learned every song on every album. So, by the time “Margaritaville” came out? I already knew Buffett’s whole song catalogue.

Funny how things work. I had something unique to offer audiences in my Buffett song collection and built a huge following pretty fast. Once “Margaritaville” came out? All my “serious musician” friends gave me a hard time about playing Buffett.

Then a couple of them later figured out, “We’re giving Carter hell for playing Buffett and he’s booked eight nights a week, has all the local media doing articles on him and he’s laughing all the way to the bank. Maybe, we need to rethink this thing.”

The next thing I knew? They were all playing Buffett songs. But, I was always the Original! 👍🏼

Counting Crows, still in my list of all time favorite bands, “Rain King” DC style.

You know you’re getting old when you still consider a twenty year old song “fairly recent.” 😊
