Barclay Towers Resort Hotel
Very nice VA Beach hotel. Great customer service, clean, spacious, every room has a private balcony. I mistakenly left my wedding ring in the hotel room and housekeeping found it. Great hotel, and I got so lucky that their staff is so honest and accommodating. Also great continental breakfast
The breakfast is great!! I love the pool, and the access to the beach. The handicap ramp is not far from the hotel, so that's a plus for me. The staff are very friendly and they are not intrusive at all. The only negative is that I'm handicapped and it's hard to get a spot in their "first come first serve" parking lot. Bright note for others is there is a parking garage across the street from the resort where you can park. We will definitely be back!
We stay at Barclay Towers often and are usually pleased. Unfortunately, our last experience was not as pleasant as usual. I usually call directly to the property to make reservations;however, David said the dates I requested were fully booked. I immediately went to their website and booked the dates. Other than the door to the balcony being unlocked the room was clean and satisfactory. Housekeeping was very pleasant and helpful. Christine at the front desk was not pleasant at all acting as if your very presence was an inconvenience, not what we usually experience from other staff. Guests would be better served if contact with her was very limited or avoided completely. It was very inconvenient that lobby restrooms were closed with a barricade of carts and yellow tape. We would stay again and am leaving this review in hopes of getting back to the level of service we've come to enjoy. I also would like clarification on pet policy, was told no pets allowed but saw them on the elevators and in lobby.
We will not be staying here again. Some of the staff were friendly and helpful. Others would rather be somewhere else. If you are a time share user be prepared to walk to your parking space. We got a call in the middle of the week saying we were parked in a wrong spot. We were told upon check-in that we could park on the first come first serve lot or if no spaces were available then to use the city parking garage for free. There is nothing in our time share paperwork that states anything other than there is limited on-site parking and one spot per room. Additional vehicles have to use city garage parking. We were given no paperwork from Barclay Tower Suites stating this policy. There needs to be a clear communication of the hotel policies to the guests. The house keeping staff was friendly and did an OK job. There was hardly any water pressure in the shower. We requested additional items to be delivered like steak knives and a working clock. These never arrived. The balconies are small and have 2 chairs and a small table. The cookware and dishes are mismatched and not ideal for making a full family dinner. Our time share paperwork states that pets are not allowed. We saw pets in the building. It seems there is a double standard for direct renters versus time share renters. The free continental breakfast is not free. You need to pay $119 for a week of breakfast which we did and it was good. We enjoyed our week on the beach but the hotel experience left much to be desired. We are staying our last three days but we will not be staying at Barclay Tower Suites in the future.
I grew up staying here. My mom loved this place. She knew everyone on a first name basis as they knew her the same. Clean, comfy beds. Nice place
