Thank you for checking out Tubby's Tavern! We are an American Restaurant & Tavern, passionate about genuine hospitality, properly poured beverages, and dishes prepared with the freshest local foods available.
We opened in September of 2013, two days after our daughter Emeline was born. Tubby's is named after Rodney's late father, Arthur "Tubby" Jones, who was a chubby baby that grew up to be a United States Marine and serve our great country.
At Tubby's Tavern, We Proudly Serve Those Who Serve US! Let our family serve your family one our our famous Tavern Burgers or Lobster Rolls with a cold pint of local craft beer, a glass of wine, or mixed drink.

Wait staff: Very attentive and friendly!
Food: Amazing! This is the only place in Hampton Roads where their $7 fried mozzarella appetizer could double as a meal and they are the best mozzarella i have ever had.
They have both drink and food specials for each day of the week and for $2 Taco Tuesdays there is no one who can compete with Tubbys Tavern.
Bar: Excellent assortment of both spirits and local craft brews as well as foreign and domestic beers.
Our family will forever be patrons of Tubby's Tavern and we recommend that you drop in for a bite or a drink!
The drinks are the best thing about this place. The food is bland.. don't even try the grits. They are watery and no flavor.. nothing. Should've known better. Everything is line-itemed. My check for an adult and 2 kids with only 2 mimosas was $70. The only saving grace was the service was good, but I'll be making my own breakfast.. And my own mimosas from now on.
Dive atmosphere with a quality flare. Most of the dishes are unique takes on classic favorites. Large craft beer selection on tap as well. A favorite with locals and tourists alike.
Casual and cozy tavern atmosphere. Friendly staff, good food, quick service. We came for brunch to this local gem, hidden in the back of a non-descript shopping plaza. Plenty of locals know about it, but unless you know it's there it wouldn't be somewhere you'd think of as a brunch hot spot. Menu comes as a newspaper, and was a bit tattered, but offered a nice selection of brunch offerings, but not overwhelming. The mimosas are a bit hit, as nearly every table in the place was drinking them. The coffee is good, eggs and sausage we're cooked well, and the biscuits (while not cathead) we're wonderful, soft, and moist. I'll definitely be back.
I'd would give 5 stars if the burgers met the requested temperature more often. 5 of us ordered burgers only 2 of the 5 were not over cooked. But tasty otherwise.
